Canal Saint-Martin

There is charm to be found on the east side of Paris, away from the busy and touristy city center. Lined with hundred-year-old chestnut trees, this canal neighborhood is great for a romantic walk with your sweetheart, admiring the boats and footbridges, and is exactly what I was doing when I took the photographs used for this painting. This area of Paris was a favorite subject for one of my favorite Impressionist painters, Alfred Sisley.
